Me and Irene have had the privilege to be invited to Kinnarps Trend breakfast. It is an event that starts with breakfast at 07.30 am, and after that we sat down to enjoy a lecture.
Yesterday, Sweden's trend expert Stefan Nilsson, presented seasonal trends through words and images. Stefan is a very energetic, fun and talkative person who is easy to listen to, so it was a really good start to the day. He began to warn us all because, as he himself said, "I both swear and talk rapidly!" We at Rebel Walls had no problem with that, because we had so much inspiration to bring back home!
What exactly is a trend?
A trend is something that is new and engaging and Stefan Nilsson says "it should be a gut feeling" A trend is always massive in the start and then, phased out to disappear. No trends are "born" in Sweden, but we are a curious people. We peek outside our country's borders and quickly recognise new trends. It is in the major cities of London, Paris, Milan and New York that trends are born. This is mainly because they have the large and hugely popular design- and fashion weeks.
Something that made me happy, and that was probably the best thing to hear during this breakfast, is that it is totally hip to be KIND! Kindness, humor and warmth and being together is what is IN. Snobbery and "fine dining" is OUT! Best of all is that we who work here at Rebel Walls are not at all snobbish, just kind, happy and warm people!
Below you can read a little about the various trends, and I have also picked out patterns from the Rebel Walls collection with links to each trend theme.
Wish you all a nice weekend!
SINFULL & BLESSED
This trend is either sexy or sweet. The sinful is black, black, black lacquer and leather and an interior that taken from the movie American Psycho. There are shiny metal and black leather and it's sexy and dangerous!
In the Blessed, we find the white and very white on white in layers. Here you work with structures and mixes often matte and shiny. The blessed one is kind and loyal, and everything is done with humor and warmth.
In Formable it is the designer's dream to get back to its original shape. Everything is just round or square and it is the simple, unadorned and uncomplicated that is beautiful. Round shapes, filled, or contour, crescent shapes stacked together. It can be diamond shapes, dots and squares. There are no pastels, but only pure primary colors, wood and shiny metal.
Urban Farming stands for the rustic and a longing for a life "offline". Here we want to live in the big city, but at the same time to have one foot in the ground. We wish to cultivate carrots, buy locally grown and environmentally friendly grocery, stack firewood and eat "slow food" and wear clogs Put up nesting boxes with a webcam installed, so that one can then share nice pictures on Instagram. There is a website for those people named cabinporn.com. The web address makes one puzzled to say the least, but here you can just click around in cute houses, idyllic settings and wonderful cottages and just dream away.
Blue Lagoon is the tropical and colorful, and Brazil is the inspiration. Brazil have no recession as Europe and here you live the simple, happy life - beach life, water reflections, blue hues of dip-dye technology, coconuts, cockatoos and parrots, cacti and tropical flowers. Here is hardly any black and white and no pastels either. Lovely and bright colors all over!
FUN IN KITCHEN
The Fun In Kitchen-trend is built on enjoyment of food. We leave the fashion world and instead find inspiration in world of food. Health is in focus, but we do not overtrain and we are no health fanatics. We train, but note, it should be fun when we train and we will be happy together! Forget military combat training. We mix our old and new porcelain, in different colors. It is smooth and pleasurable. We bake cake-pops and eat together at the very large table the whole family and relatives together and we would also like to show others that we are proud of their our ties.
